The Gangue

The Gangue is the official newsletter of the Mineral Deposits Division, created to share news, ideas, and opportunities within the broad and ever-evolving field of economic geology. First published in 1979 (with a hiatus in between), The Gangue has long aimed to connect geologists across Canada and beyond. Now published 1–2 times per year, it is intended for all geoscientists—from students to seasoned professionals—who are passionate about mineral deposits, exploration, and the wider geoscience community.

Since the beginning, issues have featured announcements of upcoming field trips, short courses, and workshops, along with member-submitted stories, field reflections, and emerging research highlights. Whether sharing a new discovery or simply a good story, The Gangue offers a space to stay informed and engaged. Newsletters are available on this page, and we welcome contributions from the community.
